Protestant Churches emphasise Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone), viewing the Bible as the ultimate authority, encouraging a personal and deep study. For us in the Catholic tradition, scripture is vital – but must be interpreted within Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium (teaching authority). We haven’t always emphasised personal Bible reading leading to unfamiliarity and especially disconnection between the old and new testaments.
Starting on the 23rd Feb (7pm at OLSP Hall) and for a number of weeks during Lent, I will be leading a Bible Study course with video and discussion. We will have a sign-up form next week and I do hope many of you will join me in deepening our Bible knowledge as part of our faith journey.
