Although grieving is a natural process than can be helped by
sympathy and understanding of family and friends, sometimes
it can be helpful to talk to someone who is not family or a close
friend. The Parish has two trained bereavement supporters
who can offer such support.
The Ministry hosts a Consolation Café every month in the
Parish Centre at Our Lady & St Peter. Forthcoming dates are
posted in the Parish Newsletter. If you know someone who is
lonely and who may find comfort by attending the café, or if you
are suffering through bereavement yourself or any other kind of
loss, a warm welcome awaits. For those who would prefer to
talk to a bereavement supporter one to one, either by telephone
or face to face, this can be arranged by contacting the Parish
Administrator at eastgrinstead@abdiocese.org.uk.
We are supported by the Diocesan Deanery Bereavement
Team and can put you in touch with them if you felt more
comfortable speaking to someone from outside the Parish. The
support will take the form you wish it to and will be confidential
and non-judgemental.
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.”
