East Grinstead and Lingfield element of new ‘Combined Parish’
Bishop’s Plan for diocese:
- We are now part of the new parish formed from the parishes of the former Crawley Deanery (the ‘Combined Parish’).
- The Plan remains an ongoing process and many of the details of how combined parishes will operate in practice are still being developed.
Communications, Newsletter & IT:
- WiFi has now been installed in OLSP Hall with an automatic disconnect for devices after 3 hours. This will shortly be rolled out for St Bernard’s.
- Church heating is now controllable by WiFi, which should drive both efficiency and cost benefits.
- Card readers have been successfully installed at both churches allowing cashless donations to be made.
- The parish website continues to be developed. Further steps to make it easier for people to identify future events and activities are being worked on. Ultimately check the calendar for events/timings.
Formation [including a day session at Worth Abbey]:
- An event will be launched soon – watch out for this in the newsletter.
Children in the life of the Parish:
- First Holy Communion masses are scheduled to take place at OLSP on Saturday 21st June 2025.
Ministry for Consolation & Healing:
- A Healing Mass is scheduled to be held on Saturday 14th June 2025 at 11:30am at OLSP.

Social Events:
- Parish lunches continue to be held (Soup Lunches) on a regular basis – please check the parish newsletter or website for details.
St Bernard’s building – brief update:
- Works have progressed well and are nearing completion. The main items to be completed are (i) the sanding of the floor, and (ii) the resurfacing (tarmac) of the car park.
- Special thanks to Tom Clarke and Michael Goodwin for their significant contributions to this project.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:
- Father Jack is looking for new volunteers to undertake this important ministry. If approached, please give this your favourable consideration.
